Marcus de Guzman D.M.D.

Dr. Marcus de Guzman comes from a long line of medical doctors and Invisalign

dentists. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA in 1996. Following in his grandfather's footsteps, he decided to focus on dentistry and obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (DMD) from The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry (formerly Temple University School of Dentistry) in Philadelphia, PA in 2000 at the age of 25.

While in dental school, Dr. de Guzman was involved in many outreach programs and initiated programs such as dental and oral health screenings in local public elementary schools, HIV clinics, and even nightclubs. He was an invaluable volunteer at ASIAC (AIDS Services in Asian Communities) in Philadelphia, doing outreach not just in the Asian community but within the Philadelphia community as a whole. His efforts towards public health were recognized in 2000 by the Association of Public Health Dentistry and he was presented the Community Dentistry and Dental Public Health Award upon graduation.

To this day, Dr. de Guzman continues his passion for helping and giving back to the community, but now in Houston, TX. He volunteers his time, effort and expertise to various organizations and community programs. Among them, he has been a volunteer dentist for Bering Omega Dental Clinic, a non-profit clinic, since 2004. He has held a position as co-chairperson for two years, a volunteer position, for the Dental Assistant Training Program (DATP) for the Greater Houston Dental Society (GHDS).

Dr. de Guzman strives for excellence and keeps abreast with the current dental modalities. He is an active member of the Greater Houston Dental Society (GHDS), the Texas Dental Association (TDA), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD). He has been practicing sedation dentistry since 2003 and is a certified provider of Lumineers and Invisalign.

During his free time, Dr. de Guzman enjoys mountain biking and sculling. He loves to entertain friends and family at his home. His favorite past time is sitting at a local coffee shop with a good book to read.

Jennifer Freeman, R.D.H. Dental hygienist

Jennifer received her bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from the University of Veneers Texas Dental Branch in Houston in 2009. During her education she obtained thorough hands-on clinical experience, working with patients within the Dental Branch as well as Antoine Harris County Public Health Clinic, Fort Bend New Hope Dental Clinic, Houston Medical Center Pediatric Dentistry Clinic, and the Veterans Affairs Dental Clinic. Upon graduation Jennifer received the Colgate Student Total Achievement Award and has also been recognized by the Special Care Dentistry Association and The Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities.

Motivated by a desire to help others, Jennifer has spent many hours volunteering in the community, notably at the Bering Omega Dental Clinic, community outreach programs such as Texas Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile, and numerous community health fairs and elementary school programs. Jennifer is passionate about Dental Hygiene and loves having the opportunity to educate people both young and old on how to properly care for their beautiful smiles!

Jennifer is a current member of the local, state, and national dental hygiene organizations including the ADHA, TDHA, and Greater Houston Dental Hygiene Society. When not educating patients on the importance of oral well-being, she enjoys all outdoor activities, travel, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Keia Murrell, R.D.A.
Dental Assistant

Keia Murrell was born in Houston, TX and has lived in the Bayou City all her Lumineers life. As she grew older, she knew she wanted a career in the healthcare field. At first, she couldn't decide whether to go into nursing or into dentistry. But after graduating from Eisenhower High School, she decided to go to school for dental assisting. She graduated from the National Institute of Technology and recieved her Registered Dental Assistant certificate from the Texas Board of Dental Examiners. Keia has now been practing in the dental field since 2003. She loves helping other people. She makes her patients feel welcome and enjoys educating them on the importance of dentistry.

Keia enjoys spending her spare time with her mother and her friends; just having quality time with those she loves dearly. She and her friends go on trips and she especially enjoys the beach. Her mantra is "live, love, laugh", which she feels makes her the positive, good-spirited person that she is today.

Carlos Camacho
Practice Administrator

Houston Dentist Carlos was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and moved to San Francisco, California at the age of 13. He has been living in Houston since 2008, and is in love with the city. Aside from being our practice administrator, he is also a fitness instructor and he has been involved in the healthcare industry for the past 5 years. Carlos believes in keeping healthy: from your teeth to your core. Carlos likes to stay busy and is involved in many different projects. When he is not at Bayou City Smiles, he is either teaching class, exercising, or filming, as he is a local celebrity. You can see him in local and national commercials such as Academy Sports & Outdoors, Dominos Pizza, Burger King, Texas Lottery, Budweiser, among others.

When you walk into Bayou City Smiles, he will always welcome you with that beautiful warm smile. If you have not met him yet, you will on your next appointment. And even if you do not have one yet, you can always stop by and say hello.
